Obamacare Architect: 'The Stupidity Of The American Voter' Led Us To Hide Obamacare's True Costs From The Public

Viral video of MIT economist Jonathan Gruber, who was paid $400,000 as a consultant by the White House during the design and passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In the video Gurber is speaking about Obamacare and said "Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage." He also said, “And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass.”

Jonathan Gruber has been dubbed the “Obamacare architect,” and the video of him was shot during a panel discussion, in which he participated at the University of Pennsylvania’s Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics on October 17, 2013. This according to a November 10, 2014 article by Forbes.

Gruber's words caught the attention of some at the Institute, who tried to scrub what he said, but time was not on their side. The article said, "Representatives of the Leonard Davis Institute tried to pull the video of Gruber’s remarks, but it was too late. Phil Kerpen and others had already clipped them for public consumption."

Gruber is a professor of economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and according to a July 25, 2014 article by Forbes, was paid by as an ACA consultant by the White House the sum of $400,000.

When the video went viral Fox News' Megyn Kelly requested an interview with Gruber but he declined. Kelly sent him an open message on her program, “You know what? We’re no longer interested in you, Mr. Gruber, and 28 Democrats who voted for that health care law just got fired by the American people because eventually they realized they had been lied to […] one by one, the misrepresentations have come out and the American people have had their say."

On Thursday November 13, 2014 Nancy Pelosi denied knowing Gruber in a press conference but in 2009 touted his qualifications and abilities. Click here to see the iRumorMill.com findings.
