U.S.M.C. Dad Banned from Daughter's School Over Islam Essay

Allegations that a Maryland high school banned a student's father, a U.S. Marine, after objecting to an assigned essay on Islam. Conspiracy theorists are speculating that schools are indoctrinating students on Islam.

According to an October 29, 2014 article by Fox Insider, Kevin Wood, a U.S. Marine who fought in Iraq,  contacted school officials at La Plata High School in Maryland after he found out his daughter had to complete an 11th grade assignment about Islam, which included a "three-page essay about Islam’s five pillars, Mecca and Mohammed."

The article said that Wood requested "his daughter be excused from her world history class for the duration of the unit covering Islam, arguing that students can’t study Christianity in schools 'but we can force-feed our kids Islam.'"

Wood suggested an alternate assignment for his daughter, but officials defended the syllabus and refused his request. School spokesperson Katie O’Malley-Simpson told reporters, “We’re not teaching religion, we’re teaching world history.” She also said that Wood had been banned from the school grounds, alleging that he threatened "to cause a disruption."

The Wood family told reporters that they are continuing to negotiate a solution that can be mutually agreed by both the family and the school board.  If no options can be decided, they side their daughter will not complete the the assignment and take an ‘F.’

As for educators conspiring to sneak in a Muslim agenda into the syllabus, this is not the first incident.

Todd Starnes reports on religious freedom issues for Fox News and on July 29, 2013 he reported on a Prentice World History  book that is being used in an advanced placement class by schools. The book contains 36 pages on "Islamic history and presents a biased version of the Muslim faith," but teaches nothing on Judahism or Christianity. Florida State Rep. Ritch Workman told Starnes that "he received a copy of the book and he said it’s clear the authors 'make a very obvious attempt not to insult Islam by reshaping history.' Workman added,  'If you don’t see it from the eyes of a parent, kids are going to take this book as gospel and believe that Christians and Jews were murderous barbarians and thank God the Muslims came along and the world is great.'”

A similar incident was reported in the Los Angeles area where parents pulled a student from class after they discovered the school was teaching the basic foundations of Muslim beliefs to school children.  Click here for report.
