Be careful of what flashlight app you download into your smart phone. Many of them are loaded with Trojan spyware.

iRumorMill.com Determination: Potential Threat

The iRumorMill.com learned through a report by Gary Miliefsky, CEO of  SnoopWall, that the top ten flashlight apps available for smartphones are contaminated with spyware.

Miliefsky appeared on Fox News on October 1, 2014 to warn viewers of a "privacy breach posed by Smartphone flashlight apps."  Miliefsky was a founding member of the Department of Homeland Security and a cybersecurity adviser for two White House Administrations. He said that even though users are presented with pages of "terms of use" saying that data is collected from their devices, they scan past them and load it anyway. 

On October 1, 2014 SnoopWall posted a report listing 10 mobile app flashlights makers on its website. Click for report.

Later that month they updated their findings with more details and removal instructions. Click for report.

Simply deleting the flashlight app is just not enough. When users install the app, it also installed a Trojan to send personal information on the mobile device to scammers.
