According to an Aug. 2, 2017 exclusive by Daily Caller, "Al Gore’s Home Devours 34 Times More Electricity Than Average U.S. Household"
The Daily Caller cited a report released by the National Center for Public Policy Research, which said Gore "consumed 230,889 kilowatt hours (kWh) at his Nashville residence, which includes his home, pool and driveway entry gate electricity meters." The article compared his use to a typical family, which consumes "an average of 10,812 kWh of electricity per year, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration."
The article said during the month of September 2016 "Gore devoured 30,993 kWh of electricity." In comparison to the rest of the country, that would be "enough to power 34 average American homes for a month."
This is not the first time allegations of high energy consumption was brought up against the former Vice President turned Climate Change expert. In 2007 similar allegations were brought up, comparing the energy use of Gore's home to the Texas home of President George W. Bush. A Feb 2, 2007 USA Today article said the author of "An Inconvenient Truth" consumed "about 191,000 kilowatt hours in 2006, according to bills reviewed by The Associated Press spanning the period from Feb. 3, 2006, to Jan. 5."
