A University of California Berkeley campus Republican group had invited conservative pundit and author Ann Coulter to speak but officials at the university made a decision to cancel the event "after assessing the violence that flared on campus in February, when the same college Republican group invited right-wing provocateur and Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos to speak." This according to an April 19, 2017 article by the Washington Post.
In an email to the Washington Post, Coulter said campus administrators "had been trying to force her to cancel her speech by 'imposing ridiculous demands' on her but that she still agreed 'to all of their silly requirements.'” Coulter told the Washington Post that "she believes her speech 'has been unconstitutionally banned' by the 'public, taxpayer-supported UC-Berkeley.'”
The article said the university
dictated "that her speech take place in the middle of the day, that only
students could attend, and that the exact venue wouldn’t be announced until the
last minute." After Coulter agreed to the conditions the event was
cancelled.
