Disney Threatens Boycott Over Georgia's "Free Exercise Protection Act"

The Georgia state legislature passed the "Free Exercise Protection Act" which would offer protection to faith-based organizations who deny services for events they find 'objectionable.' The Bill also exempts organizations  from having to hire or retain employees whose beliefs or practices may differ from those of the organization. Calling it an "anti-gay" law, the bill's passage has Disney threatening to boycott all production in the Peach State if it is signed into law.

Disney's Gay Agenda

Georgia's "Free Exercise Protection Act (HB 757)"  is real and so is Disney's boycott threat, according to a March 24, 2016 article by the Washington Post.

According to the Georgia State Website, The Free Exercise Protection Act is "a bill to be entitled an Act to protect religious freedoms; to amend Chapter 3 of Title 19 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to marriage generally, so as to provide that religious officials shall not be required to perform marriage ceremonies in violation of their legal right to free exercise of religion; to amend Chapter 1 of Title 10 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to selling and other trade practices, so as to change certain provisions relating to days of rest for employees of business and industry; to protect property owners which are religious institutions against infringement of religious freedom; to define a term; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes."

The article said the Walt Disney Co. and Marvel, a subsidiary movie studio, released a statement indicating a stop of all film production in the Peach State "should the Free Exercise Protection Act, which opponents describe as anti-gay, becomes law." The statement said, “Disney and Marvel are inclusive companies, and although we have had great experiences filming in Georgia, we will plan to take our business elsewhere should any legislation allowing discriminatory practices be signed into state law.”

The article said, "Opponents say the bill allows anti-gay discrimination." It also citied that proponents argued "the opposite: It would be discriminatory not to pass such protections."
