Water temperatures have not risen, as expected by global warming theorists, according to a October 6, 2014 release by NASA. The report said that scientists at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California, have analyzed data from satellites as well as measurements taken directly from the ocean between 2005 and 2013, "and found the ocean abyss below 1.24 miles (1,995 meters) has not warmed measurably."
The JPL study coauthor, Josh Willis, said that this new information my not "throw suspicion on climate change itself," as the water level of the seas are still rising. "We're just trying to understand the nitty-gritty details," Willis told reporters.
In the past 14 years, the continual accumulation of Greenhouse gases have continued to be a concern to the scientific community. At the end of the the 20th century "Global Warming" became the buzz word and later the term was replaced with "Climate Change." The report said that the "global average surface air temperatures have stopped rising in tandem with the gases." JPL also reported that the temperatures of the oceans above the depth of 1.24-mile mark continues to climb, "but not fast enough to account for the stalled air temperatures."
Some scientists think that the reason for the "missing" predicted heat is that the cooler deeper waters are "taking up the slack," but there is a lack of supporting evidence to prove this idea. The study explained that the cause for the rise in the sea level is that "water expands as it gets warmer." Another contributing fact for the rise in the water level are melting glaciers.
