California to Allocate $30 Million for Those Protected Under DACA

Reports that Governor Jerry Brown (D-CA) and his state assembly have set aside $30 Million tax dollars to assist with the financial aid and legal services of those who were smuggled across our border as children. This is in response to the recent decision to cancel the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) by President Trump.

The reports are real, according to a Sept. 12, 2017 article by KTLA Channel 5 News and LA Times in Los Angeles.

The article said, "The funding proposal, expected to be taken up Tuesday in a Senate budget and fiscal committee, comes a day after state Atty. Gen. Xavier Becerra filed a lawsuit challenging Trump’s decision to rescind DACA, which grants temporary deportation protection and work permits for about 800,000 people across the country."

The said additional funding of $10 million will be set aside "for young immigrants without legal residency, known as 'Dreamers.'”

KTLA reported the a large portion of the money will be distributed to students in state community college students. $3 million has been budgeted "for loan programs at California State University and the University of California."
