The charges are real and Pastor James McConnell has denied two charges relating to a sermon which he gave in a church in Belfast, Northern Ireland last year. This according to a Dec. 14, 2015 article by the U.K.'s BBC.
The article said that the "prosecution against Pastor McConnell centres on his remarks about not trusting Muslims."
McConnell was well supported by more than 100 friends and followers and the BBC expects the trial to last three days.
