SpaceX Rocket Explodes on Launch Pad

A SpaceX Rocket exploded shortly after 9am on a Kennedy Space Centre launch pad during a test on Sep. 1, 2016. The payload was an Amos-6 $200million satellite owned by Facebook. Upon examination of photos and video conspiracy theories have gone viral.

"ASTONISHING footage has emerged of what appears to be a drone-like object flying past SpaceX moments before it dramatically exploded." This according to a Sep. 3, 2016 article by the Daily Star. The article said, "new analysis of the footage appears to show there may have been foul play."

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk told reporters they are still investigating video to determine the cause of the explosion.

The Daily Star reported Steve Svensson posted a video of the incident on YouTube which "shows a small, silver spherical object flying over the rocket as it exploded."

Some are speculating the object was a drone.

Other conspiracy theorists believe the object may have been a craft not of this earth.

According to a Sep. 3, 2016 article by the U.K.'s Daily Mirror, the mysterious object could possibly be "an insect or a bird, while others said they believed the rocket was targeted by a missile, a beam of light - or even a UFO ."
