Mother's Prayer Restarts Boy's Heart

John Smith Brought Back to Life After Mother's PrayersReports of a 14-year-old St. Charles boy who died after falling through the ice on Martin Luther King Day and was brought back to life after his mother asked God to bring him back to life. Determination: Real

The account is real according to a February 3, 2015 article by KSDK, an NBC affiliate servicing St. Louis, MO.

KSDK said, "Eighth grader John Smith is doing something doctors never believed would be possible." Smith was airlifted to the hospital after falling into through the ice on Lake St. Louis.

The article said that when John arrived at the emergency room at SSM St. Joseph Hospital West, Dr. Sutterer and his team performed CPR on him for 27 minutes. The lifeless young Smith did not respond to the efforts.  Sutterer told reporters, "He was dead for 45 minutes."

At that point Sutterer called John's mother into the room to deliver her the sad news but as she walked into the room the woman of faith began to pray loudly.  Sutterer told KSDK, "I don't remember what all I said, but I remember, 'Holy God, please send your Holy Spirit to save my son. I want my son, please save him.'" Shortly after that one of the medical team members said, "We got a pulse, we got a pulse."

Smith continues to recover and so far the only side effects of his icy plunge are cough and restricted movement in his hands, which he is receiving physical therapy.
