The photos is real, according to a
November 28, 2014
article by The Oregonian. The article said that the photo was taken on
November 25, 2014 by freelance photographer Johnny
Nguyen. The two people in the photo are Portland Police Sgt. Bret
Barnum and 12-year-old Devonte Hart.
Sgt. Barnum told the Oregonian, that as the rally was getting started, and
emotions were running high as the crowds listened to speakers, "he noticed a
young man with tears in his eyes holding a 'Free Hugs' sign among a group of
people."
