The quotation is incorrect. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) was speaking on the issue of gun control and noted that gun related “homicide is the leading cause of death” in African Americans. This according to a May 6, 2013 article by LiveLeak.com.
The
full transcript was found posted on LiveLeak as well as an audio recording of
what she said in the interview, but the link no longer works.
